Universal Orlando Resort’s Approved Reopening Plan

Universal Orlando Resort’s proposal for reopening has been approved by both Mayor Jerry Demings and Gov. Ron DeSantis as of Friday, May 22. Universal Orlando Resort will be reopening their theme parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, their waterpark, Volcano Bay, and CityWalk beginning June 5. Universal Orlando will be reopened with limited capacity.
Hours of Operation (Starting on June 5)
- Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m to 6 p.m. daily
- Universal’s Volcano Bay: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
- Universal CityWalk Orlando: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily
All guests must comply with the following:
- Face coverings will be required.
- Social distancing must be maintained.
- It is recommended to wash your hands often.
- There will be floor markings to ensure social distancing throughout the resort.
- At select locations, such as in the lines for rides, guests will be required to use hand sanitizer.
- Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines are still to be followed at all times.
Reopening Proposal for Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando
On Wednesday, May 26, The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando presented their proposed plans to reopen for the public to the Orange County Recovery Task Force. These reopening plans have been approved by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings and have been submitted to Gov. DeSantis and are awaiting his approval.

- The theme parks, Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will be reopening on July 11.
- The theme parks, Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will be reopening on July 15.
- Walt Disney World is considering reopening at 20-30% limited capacity.
- For entering theme parks, guests, reservations must be made ahead of time. Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests by calling 407- 939-7679 before new tickets are sold.
- To enter a theme park, both reservations and valid admissions are required upon entry.
- Cast members and guests are required to have their temperature checked in some locations. All Disney employees and cast members must also have their temperature checked before they start to work.
- Cast members and guests over the age of 3 will be required to wear face coverings.
- The theme parks will be modified to ensure social distancing and limited contact.
- Attractions, experiences, such as shows, parades, and fireworks, remain temporarily closed to ensure social distancing and limited contact.
- Character meet-and-greets remain paused and play areas remain closed
- New ticket sales and hotel reservations remain to be paused for now.
- Disney Vacation Club members may still make new reservations.
- Guidelines from the CDC are still to be followed at all times.
Other Walt Disney World Resort Reopenings
- Disney Springs began a phased reopening on Wednesday, May 22
- On June 15, Disney Vacation Club properties in Vero Beach, Florida will reopen.
- On June 22, Disney Vacation Club properties at Walt Disney World and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will begin to reopen.
SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld is planning on reopening starting June 11 to the public. Aquatica, SeaWorld’s water park, and Discovery Cove are planning on reopening June 11 as well. SeaWorld Orlando will be reopening with a limited capacity.
