Paul Croce teaches History and American Studies about topics that manners experts tell you not to bring up at the dinner table—courses on big values questions, including Campaigns and Political Ideologies, Environmental Debates, War and Peace, Science and Religion, Healthcare History, the American Civil War, and the 1950s and 1960s. He’s written two books, Science and Religion in the Era of William James and Young William James Thinking, and the American philosopher and psychologist provides leads on ways to learn across the values differences. And he’s written short pieces applying these ideas to public issues for the Huffington Post and the web page he created, Public Classroom, and his recent essays have appeared in Civil AmericanHistory News NetworkPublic Seminar, and the Washington Post.
