Rock ‘n’ Ruff
The Mardi Gras on Mainstreet Dog Parade, informally known as the DeLand Dog Parade, is an annual event that is a way to celebrate Mardi Gras and our four-legged friends. It was held on Feb. 22 and began at 11 a.m.. It was a fun event for dog lovers and a great way for local businesses to advertise themselves and show support for the community. Along with the usual Mardi Gras theme, this year’s parade had underlying rock ‘n’ roll elements as well. . Many of the floats and cars were playing rock music, especially from the ‘80s, and many people in the parade were throwing beads. Some also gave out dog treats to anyone they saw with a dog on the sidelines. While there were plenty of dogs in the parade itself, and the theme overall is a love for dogs, there were almost as many dogs as there were people watching the parade.
Top 10 Cutest Dogs In The Parade (Ranked by Costume)
(Honorable Mention)
Okay, we’ll admit. Boon isn’t a dog, but he is one handsome horse that deserves a place on any cutest list. He was there pulling a carriage during the parade and is just a sweetheart.
10. This beautiful husky is Murdoch. He may not have a costume, but huskies are stunning and I firmly believe this dog deserves a place on this list. This husky is likely a part of the husky group that walked in the parade, Huskies Haven of Florida.
9. Elrod, a gorgeous cane corso. A very handsome dog in a shirt!
8. Kobe the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is very festive in his boa; I just love his coloration and sweet face.
7. This little Scottish terrier named Murphy is a heart stealer! There was a whole group of scotties in the parade and I just adored their little outfits!
6. Little miss Mia here is a Chihuahua who got to ride in a sweet pink car. She was absolutely adorable and tiny. Although her costume isn’t much, I took her amazing ride into account.
5. Cuddles the corgi was dressed as a little jailbird! Definitely the cutest jailbird I’ve ever seen.
4. Kirby, dressed as one of the members of the Grateful Dead. I love that he even had a hat and wig to go along with it!
3, 2, 1. Spirit, Joya, and Chloe respectively. I just couldn’t separate these three poodles! They all work as therapy dogs. Spirit and Joya work at the library and various schools, but I’m not sure where Chloe works. They were absolutely rocking their costumes!
